Welcome to the new addition to the

ALABAMA GOLD PAGE

I hope you find this information useful as you prospect.

When you get ready to clean up.  Grasp the box by the front end.  Lift the front end out of the water SLOWLY!!!!  As you lift the water can pick up speed!  And you can lose the concentrates you have worked hard for.
Lift slowly and let the water trickle off of the back of the box.
This may take some practice.  Once you get it, it is easy.

Once you have it up.  Turn the box up on it's side and let the rest of the water run off.  You can see the concentrates are still clinging to the mat.  Once you do this you can gather your concentrates.  In a bucket.

Place the exit end of the sluice box in a bucket, take a gold pan or similar item and wash the concentrates off of the mat into the bucket.  Tilt the box and bucket back away from you.  The two will act like a funnel.  Putting the concentrates in the bucket.  If you throw the water hard, your concentrates will splatter out onto the ground.  Be gentle, they will wash out into the bucket.

If some remain, it is ok.  You are ready for the next step.

Once you finish with the step above.  Disassemble the sluice box.  Remove the carpet.  Fill the bucket half full with water.  Wash the carpet out.  Shake and jostle it around vigorously in the water in the bucket.  This will allow the rest of the concentrates to fall off.
Once this is done, place the empty box in the bucket again, rinse it out.  You will see more concentrates wash down the empty trough.

When you remove the box from the water, this is how it will look.  The heavy stuff at the front.  Notice, you can see the black sands at the very front ahead of the first riffle.
